Our touchstone for this project was the existing home’s breathtaking views of Mt. Diablo, visible from nearly every window. Preserving and enhancing this natural focal point formed the basis for every one of our design choices. The design for this home – a true oasis for its bachelor owner – deftly balances stunning views with a cozy and understated interior.
We began our renovation by streamlining the home’s interior architectural elements – removing arches and columns, smoothing walls and opening up rooms, while adding recessed shelving to the kitchen and bar. Finishes and furnishings carried out in a soothing palette of white, gray and warm oak are simple, clean and modern without feeling cold, allowing the views outside the windows to take center stage. The palette of oak and light marble extends to the reimagined master bath to form a gloriously spacious retreat. The result is a serene, calming, minimalist home that our client adores.
