Kriste Michelini Interior Studios

Danville, California

We wanted to create a blank slate for the studio. “I wanted to create a fresh clean envelope since we look at color for projects all day long.” I was inspired by menswear fashion. “We used the heather grey flannel on the tufted sofa, grey hide lucite stools, dark brown leather office chairs and black lighting over the living room, island and conference table. The patterns on the Saarinen chair cushions in the conference room are all menswear fabrics from Holland and Sherry. The open office is broken into several zones. The entrance nook, the main island where design collaboration occurs which houses a library of fabric, wood and finishing samples. Behind the large barn doors is the conference room, where client meetings are held and also hosts a stocked bar cart. Lastly, is the living room vignette that offers plenty of seating for team meetings, while the bookshelves display a rotating cast of accessories that is used in clients’ homes.
