Happy New Year Everyone!  We had such a nice long break here at the studio and are back with some great new ideas to share and are ready to hit the ground running!  One of my favorite things to do at the beginning of each year is to buy an updated calendar.  Whether it’s for the wall, one for my desk, or even for my purse, I love the process of looking at what I accomplished in the previous year’s calendar as I start to plug in projects, birthdays and travel for the year ahead in my new one!  Here are some calendars I love if you haven’t found one for yourself yet…

At this time of Thanksgiving gatherings, our thoughts turn gratefully to you with warm appreciation.  Wishing you all wonderful celebrations with family and friends!

I always look forward to reading Oprah’s favorite list every year.  Wouldn’t it be great fun to behind the scenes and see the entire process and the number of products they must review?   I scoured her list and narrowed it down to a few of my favorites from her list!  Check them out…
1.  I think this looks like a beautiful book.  “Organized into ten chapters―each one representing a powerful step in Oprah’s own spiritual journey and introduced with an intimate, personal essay by Oprah herself―the Wisdom of Sundays features selections from the most meaningful conversations between Oprah and some of today’s most-admired thought-leaders.”  Definitely picking up one of these for myself when I buy it as a gift!
2.  Love these tear-away track pants in navy by Tory Burch.
3.  And yes, believe it or not, this is a TV!!!!
I know! It looks like art, but it turns into a TV when you power it on!

4.  For the spice lover in your life…

The Good Hurt Set!

5.  I can’t wait to try this because herbs are always dying on me!

6.  Chai tea is my go to tea of choice…

Love the beautiful packaging!

7.  Everyone should have a Sonicare toothbrush and especially one that is pink!

8.  I LOVE truffle salt and sometimes think I should start traveling with it!

9.  Yum

Kerber’s Farm Classic Apple Pie

10.  I have been using Magnolia Company for years as a sympathy present, however, I love the idea of purchasing these beautiful plants for the gardener in your life.  Or as a symbol of friendship…

This should be a good start for you to get going on that Christmas list!  Have fun!

The holidays are going to be here before you know it and so will your guests!  Do you have everything you need to make their stay enjoyable?

Here are a few of my favorite things I love to keep in a guest room to make them feel welcome and a little bit pampered…

Cora Carafe by CB2–great to keep on the bedside table for those late night sips!

A cozy fur throw looks and feels luxurious.

A little tube of hand cream during the cold months is always a treat!

A fresh stack of new towels is always appreciated by guests.

And you must never forget to put a beautiful candle in the guest room!

These are just a few of the basics to help you get started.  Other things I love to add are local specialties.  For example, an artisan chocolate shop near you might offer a small box of beautiful chocolates that you could place on a nightstand.  You could print off a list of the activities you have planned and another list with your home wifi and contact numbers to share is also always appreciated.  Magazines and your favorite reads are a treat to have in a guest room too.  Gosh…I could go on and on about this subject!  Most importantly, getting prepped early will help you enjoy your friends and family all the more!

We’ve recently completed several bathroom installations and have been sourcing accessories for them like mad!  Thought we’d share some of our favorite finds with you if your bathroom counter is in need of a little love…

We kept it simple in our client’s powder bath. Always fun to use fresh flowers!

This is actually my own bath which I love to keep clutter free.

Love this soap pump and cup from Zara Home!

Sea sponges are a great bathroom accessory.

Love love love the shagreen accessories from RH!

And I’m a huge fan of glass canisters for storage.

Luxurious bath towels are a must!! This Serena and Lily set is one of my favorites.

And this latest discovery of mine is my FAVE! You MUST have one of these rugs from Frontgate. It’s like stepping on a cloud!!!

Have fun adding a few new pieces to your bathrooms in your own home!  Even just a new soap pump can be the quick update you need!!

One of the easiest ways to update a room is to change out the accessories on your coffee table and some of my favorite items to use are coffee table books.  I think you can personalize a room with books that have meaning to you or are about things that are of interest to you.  For instance, if you travel, you might find books that are about places that you have been or places that you are dreaming of going to see!

Another of my favorite items to use is a succulent bowl or pot.  They are super low maintenance and they add a subtle touch of green…

And of course, fresh flowers are also a great way to add color…

Big bowls are another accessory I like to use and I love to fill them with air plants…

Sculptures are a great way to add height…

And candles are always an easy thing to change out if you want a quick update…

I have recently decided that we need a guest house.  I know the word “need” can sometimes be translated as meaning ” I want”, but I think we actually need one!  We truly don’t have a good place for guests to stay in our home.  With 3 children each having their own room and the 4th room being used as an office, extra space to sleep is in high demand!  So…I have been sourcing all sorts of ideas on Pinterest to come up with the perfect guest house for our backyard.

I think it would be fantastic to have a space that could be used for parties, a place to watch sporting events on TV or even just a place to retreat.  I want it to be self-sufficient for our parents who like to visit or for our kids as they get older and come back with their own families.  I would like it to be contained with a stacked washer and dryer, a kitchenette, a full bath, and a lounge area.  Having a very strong indoor-outdoor connection with the pool and having a nano door so it blurs the lines between the indoors and out is also important to me.  And it will definitely have furniture covered in durable fabrics so you could come in with a wet bathing suit, sit down and hang out!

I’m so excited to get it started and will keep you updated as we get going on this fun project!  Here are some of my inspiration pics…

Wow!!!  August flew by and I can’t believe we are already half way through September.  We took a little break on social media to focus on several projects we’ve been working on, so thought we would share some behind the scenes of what we’ve been up to!  From construction projects starting from the ground up to putting on the finishing touches at our accessory installations, we have been busy little bees and are thrilled with the end results.   Check out this week’s worth…

Project we’re working on in Los Altos Hills.

Adding more light by installing some awesome skylights!

Front door finally installed in another project we’re working on.

How cool is this shower in another client’s home?!

We loved this cool light fixture in the same bathroom as the shower above.

And had so much fun accessorizing their bar area!

Just a few days later, here we are prepping for a full day installation of our clients’ great room/dining room.

Here’s a little snippet of the finished product!

So in love with the orchids in the bread bowl!

Gorgeous coffee table books.

We have so many exciting things happening these days, so will continue to share as we go.  Hope you enjoyed a little slice of our week!  More to come soon…

I’m feeling as pooped as these guys today!
