I think using wallpaper helps create truly unique spaces and one of my new favorites is the Swirls line by Robert Crowder.  I am planning on using it in a powder room or on a ceiling in a closet for one of our client’s projects very soon.  I love the agate feel of it with all the amazing colors and textures it brings into a space.  There are 7 different color ways in this collection, but my eye is drawn to this one with its moody blues.
It would be stunning in a powder room…
Or as the backdrop of a bar cabinet…

Here are a couple of my favorite wallpapers that we have used in our client’s homes…

The pattern gives the paper interest, but it still has a neutral vibe to it.

The pattern in this wallpaper gave this teenage girl’s room just the pop it needed!

Even a small space behind a computer can use a fun splash of color to elevate the room to an entirely different level.

My tip for today is to change your coffee table accessories out seasonally.  If you consistently keep your decor in the same place, you sometimes miss the beauty in the accessories, art or fabulous books you own.  That is why it is important to move those things around your home so as to not be bored with the look and you won’t feel like it all looks stagnant. Try switching things up with the change of season as a reminder.  Start with something large in the middle of the table like a floral arrangement or a large piece of pottery and build from there by adding a stack of oversized coffee table books, a beautiful sculpture, candles, boxes, etc.   For example..
I love using glass boxes.
Fresh flowers always elevate a coffee table.
I love a beautiful piece of pottery as a vessel for flowers.
I never tire of my coffee table books.

Thursday–Things:  Loving these Village Common candles that are hand crafted in small batches in Pennsylvania.  Each is named after a special location and has a poem written on the label penned by the owner, Blake Hayes.  They are highly fragrant and will scent an entire home.  Not only do I love the way they smell, but they look cool too!

I love the Monterey scent!

They also have great essential oils.

Wednesday–Water:  I know I should do a better job of drinking water year round, but there’s something about the warmer weather that inspires me to carry a bottle around with me daily…especially one that contains slices of oranges, lemons or even cucumbers!   The DROP Bottle is an innovative water bottle that is fashionable, practical and is also socially conscious.  A small percentage of their sales goes towards bringing clean water to the world’s poorest communities and helping to protect the environment.  I think it’s a great product, one that helps me stay hydrated and could be a great gift to give to a friend!

Tuesday–Tip:  I always think you should only decorate one room at a time.  You can chip away at little projects here and there throughout your house; however, if you focus your efforts on decorating one room at a time, you will feel a sense of accomplishment, joy, and satisfaction when it is completed.  It takes discipline because it is so easy to get distracted and start thinking about what’s going on in the room next door or what you might need upstairs!   Sometimes that happens when you are stuck.  But don’t give in to the temptation!  Finish Room #1 and then you can move on to tackle the next room.  This approach makes it manageable and you won’t be overwhelmed because it’s much more streamlined, less chaotic and actually even more fun!  When you complete one room at a time it guarantees that you will enjoy the process as well as the end result!

Completing a room doesn’t have to take long.  This room only has a few simple accessories, but looks fully designed.

Sometimes decorating bookshelves can trip you up and make you want to move on to another room, but stay the course and you will be happy you did!

Monday–Item of the Week:  I have always been a fan of Oprah, so was really excited to see that she has written her own cookbook!  What I love about it is that the recipes she includes are ones that she really does make at home.  She shares her story of ending her lifelong struggle with eating, including the lessons she learned along the way.  Makes a great gift…maybe something to keep in mind for Mother’s Day which will be here before you know it!

Here’s another round up of my faves from this week…

  1.  I am an avid reader and this service takes the guesswork out of what book to read next!  Brilliant idea!

2.  Now is the time to plan before you are in a panic.  Stock up on all your grad gifts early to make your life easier.  Minted has some really great unique ideas!

3.  Blush is all the rage and these two tone tumblers would be fun to add to your bar, bar cart or glass shelves!

Pretty in Pink!

4.  I am always keen on trying new makeup and this cream shadow stick is the BEST!

5.  This chicken avocado salad recipe sounds so yummy for an outdoor lunch as we start having this gorgeous weather.

6.  I love espadrilles and stripes – a perfect summer fashion combo!

7.  Okay, I spend way too much time online shopping for cover-up options and coordinating my suits to cover-ups.  Check out these options for your next cover-up which succeed in covering up the areas you want to be covered!

8.  Loving this necklace for your next trip to the beach!  Actually, I’d wear it just about anywhere!

9.  Okay, so obviously my look is not bohemian but this pretty dress would be perfect for my daughter who loves this vibe!

10.  Same with this bohemian pillow – perfect for her!

11.  And don’t forget…

Great time to stock up on new summer fashion!

Thursday–Things:  So…reading the menu at a restaurant and checking the texts on my phone has become just a smidge more challenging to see than it used to!  And yes, I think I’m admitting that I might need to invest in some reading glasses.  Gah!!!!  That being said, if I’m going to buy readers, I’m going to get cute ones!   So I’ve done a little research and discovered Peepers.  Their styles are so trendy and fashionable, but you don’t have to break the bank when you buy a pair.  After all, you’ll definitely want to buy more than one because you know how easy it is to misplace them.   Maybe I should attach my Tile to those too!  HA!
