JUNIOR DESIGNER

 
JOB DESCRIPTION:

Kriste Michelini Interiors is a full-service interior design firm located in Danville, CA with a focus on high quality residential and commercial interiors. The firm is passionate about creating enticing, beautiful, and well-loved spaces for our clients. Kriste Michelini Interiors is looking to hire a Junior Designer.

The successful candidate is open to learning and to jumping into whatever comes up; has opinions and is not afraid to voice them; is a skilled problem solver; works well with others and knows when to push to get the job done!

The role will work directly with the design team on projects ranging from new construction and full renovations, to decorative projects. KMI is looking for an organized, self-starter, who is interested in the interior design industry. You will become familiar with the San Francisco Design Center, textile lines and furniture lines. Every day will be a different day and experience. One can expect to be searching for fabrics, overseeing an install, or helping within the office.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist Design team with organization and logistics of projects, including setting up client accounts (boxes/binders, tracking client budgets, purchases, and delivery/installation schedules).
  • Coordinate receiving, inspection and delivery of furnishings.
  • Gather quotes from vendors and contractors.
  • Assist designers in the creation of floor plans and elevations in AutoCAD.
  • Maintain sample and resource library.
  • Assist with sourcing at San Francisco Design Center.
  • Assist in the creation of client presentations, including design concept, space planning, architectural elements, color schemes, fabric schemes, custom window treatments and custom furniture pieces.
  • Assist in light accounting responsibilities and communication with accounting firm.
  • Assist in preparing schedules for construction and decorative projects.
  • Assist in day to day office tasks, including working in Studio Webware as needed.
  • Assist in client installations.
  • Assist in photo shoots.
  • Assist Design team on job sites.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Keen knowledge of current design trends and able to design across many styles.
  • Candidates should be articulate in both written and verbal communications and should possess a style and professionalism that is in keeping with our high-end clientele as well as a friendly and outgoing manner.
  • The right candidate has a strong work ethic, positive attitude, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, excellent multi-tasking and problem solving skills. The ability to take direction and lead with minimal supervision is essential.
  • Collaborative mentality and the ability to work well on a team.
  • The job will necessitate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, Studio Webware AutoCAD, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience with and knowledge of San Francisco Design Center showrooms is helpful.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field and two-four years previous experience in a similar position.

INTERIOR DESIGN INTERN

Kriste Michelini Interiors is seeking a motivated and talented interior design intern to help with various projects. The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, personable, professional, resourceful, self-motivated and fast learning. Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist Design team with organization including setting up client accounts.
  • Receive, open, and inspect packages.
  • Loading and unloading of cars with fairly heavy accessories.
  • Organize fabric and materials library.
  • Maintain client files and binders.
  • Answer phones as needed and support studio with miscellaneous task management.
  • Assist with office tasks per principals request.
  • Run project related errands.
  • Shop for essentials.
  • General office organization, daily administrative and file maintenance.
  • Assist design team with client installations.
  • Manage KMI inventory.
  • Upkeep and organization of storage unit.
  • Create project instruction binders.

Must have reliable transportation and be available to work two days per week. Please submit a cover letter and your resume. A background in design is not required for this role, but an interest in the industry is a plus.

Intern will become familiar with San Francisco Design Center, showrooms and resources. Learn the business side to working in a high-end interior design firm, specializing in residential projects. Build relationships with vendors. Attend on-site installations for our client projects.
